Freshman 

Welcome to your first year of high school! We are so glad you choose Walnutwood Independent Study. It is going to be a great school year. 

 

 INCOMING 9TH GRADERS 

This is a typical 9th grade course schedule w/ 6 classes at Walnutwood:
  • English 1
  • Math 
  • Biology
  • Physical Education
  • Health 
  • Elective or World Language 

 

Sophmores 

Students should have at least 55 credits at the end of their 9th grade year to be considered on-track for 10th grade. If you earned an F grade in english, math science, or history you can retake the course in summer school up to 10 credits. 

INCOMING 10TH GRADE

This is a sample of a typical 10th grade course schedule w/ 6 classes at Walnutwood:

  • English 2
  • Math (depends on the math class you took 9th grade) 
  • Chemistry
  • World Cultures
  • Physical Education
  • Choose either an elective, CTE, VAPA or world language 

Juniors

Students should have at least 115 credits at the end of their 10th grade year to be considered on-track for 11th grade. If you earned an F grade in english, math science, or history you have the option to retake the course in summer school up to 10 credits. 

INCOMING 11th GRADERS

This is a sample of a typical 11th grade course schedule w/ 6 classes at Walnutwood:

  • English 3
  • Math (depends on the math class you took 10th grade) 
  • 3rd year Science
  • US History
  • Elective
  • Elective, VAPA, CTE or world language 

Seniors

Students should have at least 160 credits at the end of their 11th grade year to be considered on-track for 12th grade. If you earned an F grade in english, math science, or history you have the option to retake the course in summer school up to 10 credits.

  • Science 
  • American Gov and Economics
  • Elective
  • Elective, VAPA, CTE or world language
